South Carolina - Charleston
A spring trip to Charleston, South Carolina. After a conference for work, I stayed and saw the sights and the Altantic. I visited Folly Beach a few times, which is 10 miles from Charleston. I saw sunsets and an old lighthouse. On Saturday morning I drove 10 miles up the Ashley River from Charleston to visit Magnolia Plantation and Its Gardens. The incredible maze of overgrown gardens, next to the extinct rice plantation on the river, were first planted in colonial times. On Saturday afternoon I walked around historic downtown Charleston, located on the lower peninsula between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers and Charleston Harbor. On Sunday morning I visited the beach at Isle of Palms. Later that afternoon I drove back up the Ashley River to another plantation, this time the amazing Middleton Place Plantation.
