One of the saddest things I have ever photographed. a fractured society, in the flesh, on my doorstep. Brighton is not a violent town by any stretch of the imagination but the hatred that flowed through all 3 parties here was palpable. Jusxtopose all these photos, it was all happening at the same time. the fun on the beach, the singer, the Pavilion and the Jaguar rally, all of these photos were taken today within one mile and 2 1/2 hours of each other... That is Brighton, that is my home

Another great day. Jack the Jackal Buzzard was on form and I had yet another priveledged afternoon chasing about a wood after some deer. The highlight of that was stalking the stag. I saw fresh poo and footprints and went deep into the wood and turned and there he was staring at me, I took a photograph and he went away. Although this is quite a tame one (and small) it was still quite thrilling, if stighly knackering

Deep snow! About a foot; I sent Lilly out to get some pictures but she had better ideas and scarpered back into the house at brek-neck speed. The baby rabbits keep being cute, which is especially annoying as we are trying to find them homes. Sussex looked utterly beautiful today

Got out again for a lovely walk with faith, trying to keep level whilst enjoying the hills. I haven't been to this part of the Dyke for a long time and it was glorious to see and I think I might have finally got a picture of a Collie that matches the one that sparked my interest in Collies 25 years ago [ouch!]

Nice quiet day in the garden, some of my new Bees and Butterflies. My Budlia has exploded! I saw a hornet but it was the bumble bee that scared me the most as it flew off, I was an inch away from it. Amazing how many species of bee amd hover fly there is here, I did see a red Admiral but no opportunity to photograph it [yet]

Newhaven Fort

A day out to Newhaven, learning about the Dieppe raids and what a disaster they were and an effective Blitz experience caused some interest. the most worrying thing for the wee human Lilly was the Nucear early warnign station, which was a little spooky, not least because of the incredibly out dated and rubbish looking equipment that was only de-comissioned in 1992!

Took little miss "I had my Appendix out last week" Rosie to Lewes today. What amazes us is how small it is, considering its importance in English history and just how did those archers manage to get up and down the spiral stairs, even if they do go anti-clockwise, which is an oddity in itself as clocks weren't invented when they made the steps! Oh and my Chafficnh makes it onto my "homies" list

Brussels rescue mission

Thunderbird II to the rescue (My car is green and f.a.b) unfortunately getting accross Normandy and Pays de Calais I couldn't stop to admire the wonderful winterscapes that were there, horses with their stemay breath in virgin snowy fields etc and wasn't overly impressed with the belgian welcome meant the photos are few and far between

Dubrovnik shelter

One of the most astonishign sights of the trip was a canctuary for the unwanted animals of the Hvrasta region for Croatia hosting more than 260 dogs and 69 cats, the dogs on top of a mountain over looking Grad Dubrovnik. Whilst photographing the city at night and looking at the sparkly sky you can hear, in the distance one or two dogs barking before they settle down for the night. One woman and a helper, soem good hearted people who keep the shelter going.

Dubrovnik animals

Dubrovnik has many animals living alongside its people "little Dubrovnik" was a kitten, about 6 months old that had a severe eye infection. I got some anti-biotics and act food and nursed his eye becak to health so he wouldn't starve. He was very thin and weak at the start of our visit but was chirping up really well by the time we left.

We went on a trip to that london today. What an amazing experience we had on the clipper boats. These are twin screw catamarans capable of nearly 40mph and they whisk you through London in the best style. It enabled us to query the canary and gawp at Greenwich as well as wind up Westminster and lord it up in Leicester square.

Clayton windmills

What a privelage to enter a working fully resotred windmill. I have never been inside this mill, even though I have visited it many times. Seeing teh hard work adn dedication of the woodwork was a joy, mixed in with the old workmanship, still in use.

Finally, a snowy day to get my teeth into. Hectic scenes on the un-treated roads but lots of people came out and had smiles on their faces which makes a nice change. In a hilly town its weird that there are no snow-chains for emergency vehicles or buses and the gritters were parked up last night, hey ho.

Quadrophenia scooter

A genuine scooter from the film Quadrophenia rolled into Lewes today to honour the passing of Jez Bird, lead singer in the band "The Lambrettas". his funeral was today and I passed this scooter and had to photograph it. Jez was only 50 and attended one of the schools I went to, although not at the same time.

Shoreham Airshow 2008

Wasn't over keen on going this year, I am glad I went though, the weather was a phenomenal break from the misery of our august. Very sadly teh Vulcan wasn't able to arrive, that would ahve been extra special but the flying was good and I did enjoy the Home guard.

2008-08-08 Cornwall Devon Dorset trip

Sorry about the volume, Weather was appauling and the only time I saw the sun was at Durdle door in Dorset and I have to say, having dragged myself up an enormous hill did wonder "Is that it" but never mind. It was whistle stop stuff and unfavourable shooting conditions. the monument, which holds the name of my Grandfather, was taken in torrential rain. One of the highpoint was definately sharing lunch with the swans of Weymouth. I must say they were very accomodating...
