Testing of the toddler size of the MTY superhero capes. Hmmm....it won't close around his neck, and this little man is not quite three.
From the back...yes, I did indeed size the applique rather large.
This is the size small on the bottom, followed by the toddler size, with my 24 inch ruler over it, for a size comparison.
SpiderMan backpack from B6735. Added a full lining, quilted the main pieces....
...and changed the straps to have webbing and buckles. My previous version used the straps as directed, with D-rings, and they kept coming out. So this is much better.
B5164 size 2 - this fits my newly 3-year-old very well. I lined the hood and used fleece to bind the hood, hem, and kangaroo pocket instead of doing the turn under and stitch routine. I like it much better.
And here's the happy recipient!
KS SFT size T1 with added length - these are actually navy, so not sure why they came out royal in the picture.
Ocean print seersucker-type pants - the larger size is KS3042 size XS, the smaller is KS SFT size T2. Neither has pockets - the fabric is very thin, and I wanted to keep them simple.
KS SFT - PJs from monster cotton interlock. This has been in my stash for YEARS! The shirt and pants are both size T2. I used black ribbing for all cuffs and neckband.
KS3043 - shirt, size S; KS2275 - pants, size 5; I added the cuffs to the pants to make them last a little longer.
My happy boys in their monster PJs!
KS SFT - size T2 - the shorts set was from a remnant - I just barely had room to cut both shirt and shorts. The zoo animals interlock was purchased on sale when I needed some retail therapy and decided that Thing 2 needed more PJs.
KS3043 - shirt, size S; KS2275 - pants, size 5; I added the cuffs to the pants to make them last a little longer. This is an interlock that I bought when I first started sewing - it's been in my stash for four years, I think. I used white ribbing here for ease in laundry.
KS3043 - shirt, size S; KS2275 - pants, size 5; I added the cuffs to the pants to make them last a little longer. Also an interlock I've had a long time. I think I bought this four years ago as well. There's plenty left for more PJs later on. I found blue ribbing for these.
The last new pants from a summer seersucker-type print (I think). I found this fabric at Hancocks during a recent sale. The larger pair is KS3042, and the smaller is KS SFT.
KS SFC - shorts size S. DS#1 desperately needs some longer shorts. He's six now and can still wear some of the 4T shorts that I made from KS SFT, but they're getting quite short on him. Last year's KS SFC size XS are also shorter than I'd like, so I'm trying out size S. Once I see them on him tomorrow, I'll cut out a bunch and replace all the 4T shorts!
KS SFT - shorts size 3T. DS#2 didn't need any new shorts, but he was excited, anyway! And these pocket openings are big enough for him to put his hands in, which is apparently quite a big deal to him!
KS SFT - PJs size 3T. DS#2 will be outgrowing the 2T PJs soon, so these were made to be ready for that time.
More summer shorts - the larger ones are KS SFC size S, and the smaller pair is KS SFT size 3T. The soccer plaid is from HF - I found it for $2.95/yd - and the construction trucks was a remnant from my stash.
I finally ran out of old sheets and had to buy cheap broadcloth for pocket bags. Here are some of my contrast pockets! Though I like old sheets for the recycling factor, I have to say that it's fun to have the different colors available in the broadcloth. I just bought a bunch on a $1.67/yd sale.
The green bug print was a remnant I found at HF, and the green twill was from my stash.
The last of the summer shorts for DS#1 - all KS SFC size S. The beach print has been in my stash for years, the Cars on blue print I've had for about a year, and the Batman print was a remnant from HF.
DS#2 needed some new solid colored shirts, so I experimented with short-sleeved raglan shirts and interchanging the sleeves. They're still relatively plain, but jazzed up just a bit. I really like them, and so does he!
Fishsticks Designs Patrick Curved Raglan Shirt - the red/black one is 5T, and the orange/green print is 3T. These are my first attempts, and I love how they turned out! Just waiting on trying them on the boys now....
And my cute little models! The size 3T fits DS#2 pretty well, but I will try 1/4" SAs on the next one, just for more room. The 5T fits DS#1 really well, but I think I need to add a little length to the sleeves.
Knit pants from KS 2275 and KS SFT - we're moving into the fall/winter clothes time, so the boys need warmer pants. Both these fabrics have been in my stash for several years, and I'm trying to use them up! The KS 2275 is view B size 5, and the KS SFT is size T3. These should help keep them warmer!
KS SFT size T2 - these are PJ pants to be Christmas presents for the children of coworkers. :)
KS 3042 - size S - the Spiderman pants - part of DS#1's fall school wardrobe. The fabric is leftover from the Spiderman backpack. KS SFT - size T3 - the Transformers pants - for DS#2. This fabric was a remnant from WM.
KS 3042 - size S - all for DS#1. The pirate ships and Transformers fabrics are from HF. The black "disco" fabric was a remnant from WM awhile back.
I've been using contrast colors in broadcloth to make my pocket bags now.
KS SFT - size T3. DS#2 is pretty happy with his new warm sweatshirt!
KS SFT - size T3. Black interlock from JAF.
That*Darn*Kat childrens undies - size 8 for Thing 1, size 4 for Thing 2. The lefty orientation on the fly of the bigger pair was an oops. Since he doesn't use the fly anyway, I just left it but will fix that on subsequent pairs.
DS#1 is in need of some new PJs for winter, and I got motivation because it was Pajama Day at school. So he chose the flannel from my stash, and I got to work. This is KS3042 in size S.
Fishsticks Designs Patrick Curved Raglan Shirt - sizes 5T and 3T. The white fabric has sharks all over the background and was a coop buy at least four years ago. I paired it with indigo interlock and ribbing from JAF. These were a huge hit! My boys love sharks.
