Brave Duck, Nancy and Phil in the SF Bay (2005)
Enroute from Sacremento, CA
Hmm, will it make it ....
Brave Duck arrives safely in Swantown Marina, Olympia, WA
To prevent the fuel tank vent lines from clogging with fuel the vent line attachment points for the port forward and the starboard rear tanks were relocated. Instead of attaching the vent line to the top of the tank, it attaches to the side of the tank. This can be seen in the picture above. The starboard tank's vent line is seen just below the "42 GAL" marking. Note that this vent location is plugged on the port tank while the new vent tap can be seen just below it.
By reconfiguring the vent lines as shown, any fuel entering the vent line will drain back into a fuel tank. For this to work however, the port forward and starboard aft tanks must not be filled over the their respective vent taps.
