TM off on the big adventure...seeking snow!
just out of the gate...first sighting - mevaseret tzion!
just wanted to be sure folks - and myself - knew this was Israel and not vermont ;-)
on the way to the city...
entering the city...
love this!
this was early morning. by afternoon, there were more police cars then snow plows, trying to 'herd' folks off the streets! cars were just parked and people were sliding down the little embankments, building snow/ice men and worse, throwing snow/ice balls - oh my!
frostowsky ;-)
caught in the act...
aviv...hmmm, don't think so!
this is but a small picture of how fast and furious the water was flowing through the entire city. people were outside buildings because water was flowing down the walls and some cars were up to the door jams in water from the rain, sleet, hail and snow flowing...
driving toward Jaffa gate...yes, "emmie" made it through the day, true to her name!
waiting to turn and enter Jaffa gate...
montefiore and the windmill, just outside current old city walls.
going up to the Jaffa gate.
Jaffa gate...
snow does not stop folks needing to be out and about...people were very wet and the wind was bitter and blowing.
driving through from Jaffa gate toward the western wall.
view of mt olives from mt Zion...
along the old city ramparts - enjoyed the contrast!
you can almost imagine...
view from old city side toward mt olives and the place where Yeshua wept overlooking Jerusalem.
view of the Eastern gate from mt. olives...
what can i say?!
no this is not a waterfall, simply run off on one of the hills outside old city walls!
more water...
nothing to do with the weather so much, although all the stone in the old city was SO distinct today - rather stunning...not sure i have ever seen them so clean/wet and what seemed 'full of life' - maybe even "crying out"...hmmmm....
view of historic mt. zion hotel from mt. Zion on my way out of the old city...
day 2 - 31 january, 2008 a grandaughter of one of the families in my building...
view from kvish 1 headed toward jerusalem. the hill on the left is the back side of mevaseret, where the villa is. 31jan
day 2...there was no snow here yesterday...
31jan
day 2
yes, we saw this entering the city yesterday - yet today folks were a bit more adventerous and out. it seemed there was not a corner or street without at least someone taking photos with cameras, cell phone cameras etc., or slinding around on plastic bags etc. so just documenting for ya ;-) 31jan
just for some perspective...a corner after plowing. 31jan
sidewalk going into Jerusalem... 31jan
one of the jerusalem neighborhood streets... 31jan
31 jan
i know it is not so obvious from the photo (leaving the 'photography' to such folks, this was a more "from the car, tm trying to help document and share with folks a special event" picture :) yet the snow on the cactus was something to see live and in context! 31jan
some may remember on the 40th anniversary of the "re-unification" of Jersualem, a surprise storm came and 'rained on the parade' literally - a crazy storm...somewhat like this one, just without snow. 31jan
grounded...31 jan
ok, not sure if you can see that he has his pant legs taped! nu, it is clear we are not in the north eastern part of the united states - no snow gear here! 31jan
when no snow gear, you make do! more than funny, this made me wonder how they kept from sliding down every snowy place?! 31jan
heading down rechov hillel in city center Jerusalem toward the Jaffa gate. 31jan
this was great, yet from my car window while i was moving, not so clear...just imagine - even snowmen drink coffee in Israel! 31jan
just another example of the range of photos being taken...from cell phone cameras to tripods.... 31jan
just found it interesting how the light was coming through the crossbow port - old city ramparts. 31jan
view of mt olives from the old city - a little more snow cover than yesterday - 31jan
lookinh down on the city of david - from the old city... 31jan
outside gethsemane with everyone pitching in to prepare for the tourists. 31jan
view of the valley between mt olives and the Eastern gate...yep, lots of tourists out today enjoying the unusual scenery... 31jan
the valley in front of gethsemane - olive and palm trees. 31jan
olive tree outside the Eastern gate... 31jan
