Golden Backed Ant (Camponotus sericeus)
A Six spotted tiger beetle (Anthia sexguttata) feeding on a Squirrel. Beetle are one of the first to arrive on dead animals, i had seen many times this happening. These beetles are highly active,with large mandibles and always on move. This was a nice chance to have a closeup and also this moment to be captured. Insight: CLoseup.
Golden Backed Ant (Camponotus sericeus), the major workers measure around 8-10 mm, median 5-7 mm.On mountains they build chimney like nests to prevent water from rushing in, on flat lands the nest openings are on level with ground layer. In evergreen forest they nest in soil under leaf litter.
