This huge 50 ton per day shark fishery targeted sharks during summer in the midriff Islands. 40% were pregnant. In 5 years, starting in 1985 this fishery went from 3 boats to 200 boats and back to nothing as the sharks were all killed. Conapesca said this fishery didn't exist.
This small whaleshark was killed in San Evaristo at the north end of the Bay of La Paz which is one of the only rearing grounds for whalesharks in all of Mexico
