"I always believe manchu bow was designed manchuker themslves, until I see a mongolian bowyer made a bow that he met at his childhood(1970s) it just looks like manchu bow, but no cushiom. a groove from the tip to the end .can you imagine that ? Han dynasty long-siyah bow develped into monglian bow, and manchuker give the bow a pair of cushiom"

"Let's not forget that Scythian-shaped bows made a big impression on Chinese culture during the Zhou Dynasty. You can see it in old artwork and calligraphy.

Welcome Liu Ao!

Liu's comment roughly translates to: "Long-siyah, non-contact recurve bows have been seen all over Eurasia, not just with the Xiongnu. The earliest appearance of long-siyah bows in China is the Qing/Han Dynasties, and the design remained popular up through the Yuan dynasty. It wasn't until the Yuan dynasty (when the Mongolian Empire was at its height) that bows with small, forward-pointed tips (a la Turkic style) started to emerge and become the de facto standard in China. During the Qing dynasty, the Manchus introduced their own particular style of bow. Throughout Chinese history, all sorts of bows were used up until archery itself became a distant memory.""
