Florida Trip

Just as the birds run their way from the freezing cold during the winter months to the warmth of Florida, it was a time to enjoy the beauty for us humans too. When it was below freezing at my home, it was 72 in Miami, with crystal clear water and bluw skies and fiery sunsets to match. The mellow laidback nature of the beaches coupled with exotic and fascinating Cuban/Puerto Rican food that is found in plenty added to the experience. The completeness of nature amazes everyone who comes in contact to it. The magnificence of the sea and the grandiose of the setting sun shows how benign nature is to all of us, and how inconsequential we are to her might.

Alaska - The Wild and The Beautiful

The rugged, pristine state of Alaska. The largest state in the US (Texas + California + Montana combined, plus some more), or about half the size of India !. Just the coastline of Alaska is greater than the entire coastline of the US combined. The Arctic Circle crosses the state just above Fairbanks and thus it experiences the phenomena of Midnight Sun and Polar Nights. A chance to see and experience the Aurora Borealis was amazing on a rare clear sky, so was the chance to see entire behemoths of glaciers up close a feet away from you. Touch them and feel their icy cold, blue beauty. Grizzly bears and moose and reindeer and brown bears and Dall sheep roaming in the wild. Falcons and Eagles soaring high in the sky and fishermen hauling king salmon as big as your legs out of the pristine blue waters. No pictures can capture the immense beauty of this state. No words can aptly describe it. No number of trips is enough to completely cover what this almost untouched land has to offer.

Michigan Upper Peninsula trip

The Upper peninsula of Michigan is one of the least populated regions of the US, due to the extreme cold weathers during the winter months. Bordered by Lake Superior on one side, Lake Michigan on one, and Lake Huron on another, it recieves plentiful amounts of snow and blizzards making an inhospitable terrain for people to live. However, like as in all untouched forests, summer brings a completely different flavour to the ones who venture to look into it. There is green and red and yellow and blues everywhere. Colours burst out of flowers and trees and the skies and the water. The beauty is shared by the bordering nations of US and Canada as Lake Superior falls under both jurisdictions. Shots taken over the Memorial Day weekend.

The Pacific Northwest Trip

The Pacific Highway (CA 1/US 101) winds itself from the desert beauty of Los Angeles upto the freezing glacial vistas of Vancouver. It had been planned in such a way that auto riders get to (almost continually) see the Pacific ocean along the entire mainland US on one side and stunning forests and mountains on the other. We started the trip on a rainy and gloomy day in San Francisco on Christmas Day and took the entire CA 1 to US 101 from California to Oregon to Washington. The beauty of the coast and the immensity of the oceans were astounding. We went through the dazzling beauty of Point Reyes, the open vistas in Mendocino, the massive Redwood forests, the wide open vistas of the coasts of Oregon, the ice capped glacial beauty of Washington when we turned inland into Seattle to watch the fireworks on the 31st. Yellowstone trip

This was another massive 4000 mile round trip from Lousiville, KY through Chicago, Madison, Minneapolis (yeaa, Kris!), through North Dakota, through Montana, to Yellowstone NP, to Grand Teton NP, to Devils Tower NP, to Mount Rushmore NP, through the Badlands in South Dakota, through Iowa, Illinois and finally back home.

The Majestic Route 66

The Route 66, the mother road. The only road that existed in the now highway interlaced US of A between Chicago and Los Angeles. The road that was lifeblood to thousands in history, when they catered to the millions of merchants and workers and optimists and musicians and lovers. Spanning a total length of 2400 miles, across 8 different states (Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California), innumerable small and large cities (Chicago, St. Louis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Flagstaff, Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino and finally Los Angeles). I started the trip from St. Louis (geographically the most closest to me from Louisville, Kentucky) and took a 8 day, 2800 mile trip to Santa Monica. The weather was torturous, with the chill factor below -10 C (15 F) and snow all along the way. It was just me, and a small rented Hyundai Accent and my cameras and the will to do it. Enjoy...
