This is a delightful state park unit. The original builders of the home owned the plantation, (with all that such status evokes), but unlike other plantations around the South that I've seen, this one is more rustic than pretentious. To be fair, my understanding is that the family had a bigger, fancier house in the town of St. Martinville but still, they obviously lived in the place and it feels very authentic.
