SCS, homeowner was getting water in basement between back corner and back door. Some mold, efflorescence on inside wall.
Inside, back corner....back wall to the left. ABC news/mold.... http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=131638&page=3 ....'You need to ELIMINATE the CAUSE, we say, find the moisture, ELIMINATE the moisture, clean up the mold'. Inside drain tile etc systems do NOT,have NEVER 'stopped/eliminated moisture/water from entering ANY exterior crack, cracked parging and so on.
Page 7 of article.......'Remember,cleaning up the mold is NOT enough....you MUST find the water source and eliminate it'
EFFLORESCENCE-- http://www.aggregateresearch.com/forum/viewmessage.aspx?AreaID=82&MID=2360 .....'water infiltrates blocks.......can cause spalling......Best way to prevent the problem is to prevent water from infiltrating the blocks....whenever we see this problem there is usually a leak somewhere that allows water to enter the block wall.....once the source of the water infiltration has been located and STOPPED.........'
never understand why some will create holes in wall to run a gas line etc through and not think about water entering through the hole they just created/having concrete on the outside of the wall doesn`t keep water from getting in duh hole/was not done by this homeowner
back corner to just beyond back door,saw-cut about 18" x 15' of concrete in order to hand dig/waterproof eh/hydraulic cement already applied
ummmm, see where water can-did enter
does ANY inside system/waterguard etc repair these and keep water out? No way Jose.
another GAP towards corner, water entered here too
corner,parging deteriorated,other openings.
hairline vertical crack
thick mastic and visqueen AFTER hydraulic cement, backfill w/all gravel This builder understands WHY to backfill with most-all GRAVEL, 6th 6th 6th paragraph...... http://dwightyoderbuilders.com/concrete.cfm
--ESTIMATE.......house had an inside system installed,NOT good.
that STEP crack is still open on the outside of the basement wall but inside system companies don`t care and apparently neither do some city inspectors//INCOMPETENT
someone told potential buyer (estimate) they fixed leak by sloppin` some cement along floor-wall etc, LOL.
some blocks are COMING IN,lotsa luck!!
nothing like a good whiff of mold to start yer day
