Another super nice elderly couple, got alot of water in due to exterior cracks, deteriorating block at back corner etc.Alot of homeowners ahve been and will continue to be misled, lied to etc from MANY inside system companies,no joke. Look through the photos and explain to my old but just how any inside system and sump pump will repair those exterior cracks etc....impossible folks, not gonna happen.
Underground roots, not a little tike either eh. The root grew against, into basement wall eh,caused cracks etc which then allowed water to begin to enter. Scroll down to TREES and Your Foundation (don`t agree w/every sentence on every link but are some very good points/facts) http://www.landmarksociety.org/section.html?id=1&uid=1&pageId=7 ...Strong foundations are sometimes damaged by SMALL roots that entered tiny cracks, then grew and expanded the crack. LARGE roots can PUSH bulges into the foundation wall. EXCAVATE problems tree roots or remove entire tree beofre making repairs... INSIDE system companies do NOT remove underground roots or expanding-contracting soil etc AND don`t repair/waterproof cracks/deteriotaed blocks you see
this is the back corner. Here`s a home inspector that GETS IT, not all do....nope!! http://homes.winnipegfreepress.com/index.php?action=news&step=article&id=24 ....2nd last para,'Internal weeping tile installation is NOT a good solution,in my opinion, as the messy and costly installation may affect the STRUCTURAL integrity of the basement floor slab and does NOTHING to stop further deterioration of the outside of the foundation walls'.
and this is right around that back corner,on side wall
You will NOT see this crack and next-deteriorated block inside the basement, see last few pic`s please. Underground roots can CAUSE soil-shrinkage which can damage basement wall etc http://www.ottawacitizen.com/technology/metre+silver+maple+could+topple+tree+bylaw/2679212/story.html Here`s what MANY have installed and continue to install INSTEAD of removing/reducing exterior pressure/weight/causes and repairing existing defects See PHOTO`s and comments, the HI is right-on-the-money http://www.nachi.org/forum/f23/basement-waterproofing-system-42321/ Incompetent/inept,often fraudulent.....that`s the TRUTH. And what about SOIL GASES, FUMES as in this story 2 Girls Die in Possible Pesticide Exposure http://www.clippertoday.com/printer_friendly/6054158 ...investigators believe the FUMES made their way into the Toone home through tiny cracks where the foundation meets the building. HELLO!! Inside systems do not repair these
hello! Corner blocks badly deteriorated, pieces where pulled off with my hand.Do inside systems repair this? Nope, never have....they think all that is needed is to go inside peoples basements and allow water to continue to enter the exterior cracks and just tear up edge of floor or put a baseboard system in and just divert the incoming water usually to a sump.Hmmm, don`t think exterior cracks or blocks can widen or further deteriorate? lol Hello??? Do`nt think termites, soil gases won`t get in? Un--be--lievable,truly.
U S Army Corps of Engineers, photos Amherst NY,Lateral Soil Pressure http://www.lrb.usace.army.mil/AmherstSoilStudy/photos/photos.html Read what they know, lateral soil pressure CAUSING step-crack, causing vertical mid-span crack, causing top of basement wall to bow inward 9 inches (pilasters failed to brace wall)
Some photos of basement wall on the INSIDE.See corner? Don`t see deteriorating blocks etc that ARE OPEN on the outside.
yes, sometimes 'some' cracks are visible on the inside like this hairline step crack on side wall.POINT is, just because you may not see any crack on the inside does NOT mean there aren`t any exterior cracks or cracked parging or deteriorated blocks etc
Where water came out onto floor, along floor-wall joint BUT that water first-entered into the hollow blocks on the OUTSIDE through those exterior cracks etc,yes sir!!!
