Smaug from Northwest Children's Theater's production of "The Hobbit." Smaug reared 16 feet above the stage floor, breathed smoke and had a fully articulated head, including blinking eyes. This puppet received a Drammy Award for Design.

Blood spurting surgery chair. This mobile chair rolled around set and could spurt blood in a six foot arc through an actor activated pump.

Hringur. A costume polar bear for the children's hospital in Iceland.
Hringur's body suit, exposed. It is made of lightweight boning and fabric to be flexible and breath well.
Coraline. This doll, made entirely from paper, was one of three created as a gifts for Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. They were commissioned by Subterranean Press.

The Great Shark and Pinocchio for Other Hand Productions. This production used a combination of live actors, puppets and found objects. The Shark was performed with double-handed saws.

"The Crossing" for Other Hand Productions. These puppets consisted of only heads and tails and played in a curtain of light. Appearing and disappearing like creatures by the side of the road.
Gerta and Moo from The Snow Queen. These puppets are made out of paper.
"Pied Piper" for Tears of Joy theater. This touring production was 20' x 20' x 10' and fit into a van. It took twenty minutes to assemble the set.

Singbonga was based on traditional masks.

The spiders in Northwest Children's Theater's production of "The Hobbit" These were run with three point suspension from off-stage. They dropped out of the ceiling and cover most of the stage.

To create the illusion of depth in the set, and to allow the puppets to move freely through it required layers of cloth drops, framed with wood.
Dancing Bear and Blind Man for "Puppet Playlist"
Set for "Marvin's Room" for Tapetry Theatre. This theater had no wing space and I needed to create five scenic locations. We used shadow puppet technology to do that.
