Banner Day Tugspotting
A banner day tugspotting!
The North Sea, Atlantic Salvor, Morton S. Bouchard IV, Justine McAllister, Glen Cove, Meredith Reinauer, and bulker Dolfijngracht, are shot for the most part, in Hudson, NY.
Hudson may be my favorite tugspotting haunt. Northbound tugs make a sharp turn, so you can see both port and starboard and get a great look at the bow straight on. The channel is close to shore. And, of course, the Hudson Athens Light adds some scale and interest.
This is a dawn to dusk, all day, sub freezing outing a day after a freshly fallen snow. I returned with six tugs and a ship.
The day ends with the USCG icebreaker Sturgeon Bay lit up at dusk at the Rhinecliff dock
