This was taken in Diriyah (near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). A quick shot through a hole in the wall, which luckily turned out nicely. This was the photo that first made me think I could click something - anything - worthwhile.
This is an intrepid, intrepid dude we encountered on a trip to the Ajanta Caves near Aurangabad.
A statue of the Buddha in one of the caves at Ajanta. I loved how the red background came out. These first few shots were clicked using a fairly basic 2 MP digital camera (that I eventually lost in Vegas - er, not in the gambling sense).
"Of towers and men" I call this one! Another impromptu shot that came out nice (me thinks). Taken at the Bibi ka Maqbara in Aurangabad
Another snap taken on the same trip to the Maqbara. Don't know why I liked this view... it was just... sere.
A vista taken at Sunset Bay, NY... with my prized Canon Powershot S2 IS. I'm big on vistas!
This is right by home (Cheektowaga NY for now). Just makes a nice wallpaper
Something about grass and the coolth of shady lawns and silence fills me with this sense of bliss (and usually a need to pee). This pic captures that feeling perfectly.
My cheekiest shot to date! :) And rather buttcheeky too! This is the famous bull on Wall Street, New York, New York
Another wallpaper moment. I loved how brilliant green the fern looked (I hope this is a fern). Taken in the Steiglmeir Park here in Cheektowaga
As you will see, the sun, and sunsets/ sunrises, and the way light plays with your mood governs a lot of my photographic sensibility
Take this photo for instance... I considered posting another similar one I have with a proper lens flare in it, but naah... this one I like
And speaking of lens flares... I like how this one seems almost Apocalyptic
I got laughed at when I said I wanted to click the same place/ same view (or very nearly so) in three seasons. The results shut the detractors up. So this is the Spring
This is the Fall view. One of my top 3 shots in terms of basic pretty-ness
And this is Winter! You tell me if it was worth it!
I call this view "Frozen". Apt, eh?
No gimmicks... no photoshop. Just pointed at the sun, and let the camera do the rest on a cold winter day
This is taken at the Grand Canyon national park. I call it the Old Bent Tree. To me, this is emblematic of old age or whatever. :) yeah... I'm my own photography critique
Ashwin and Salil pose unwittingly at Pier 51 in San Francisco. I loved how this one came out
A view of the Golden Gate bridge.
Right next to the Golden Gate bridge are these two rocks. I loved how the sun played on them
One more view of the bridge. I like the finger of shadow stretching to the bay
A display set up at the V Sattui vineyard in the Napa Valley. Was begging to be shot!
A Sax player at Central Park in NY City.
Another view in Central Park. That place felt so incredibly alive!
Santa Monica Beach, California.
The Pacific from the pier at Santa Monica Beach
The most action packed photo I've taken! This is during the Waterworld performance at Universal Studios, Hollywood
A gull flies a beautiful skyscape
Speaking of Beautiful Skyscapes...
And speaking of gulls...
I love how this photo evokes... infinity
One of the best things about the US - and something you don't really get in India - is what I've come to call Skyvailibility. You just don't see as much of it in India!
The perfect tree
Nice view. Nuff said
Another wall paper type photo. I can almost smell the musty leaves...
A sunset at Lewiston, NY. This was taken right after a Peter Frampton concert. What a wonderful evening!
Chicago from the Lake. I love this photo
A sunrise from a Mauritian beach
