Mar 2012 Alamo Palms Parade and St Pats Day Festivities.

Alamo Palms Parade of golf carts, bikes, pets, line dancers, floats and high school band kept the party moving. Program included prizes for decorations, Pets, bikes pluse the line dancers put on a presentation as well as the High School Band. BBQ Lunch was followed by games. A great day overall.

Dec 2011 Ceiling Modification

We had the ceiling cleaned on the 14th Dec and a few days later Handyman Dwayne secured our ceiling carpet with stips of moulding set in a no pattern way. We love it and it gives the coach a European look to us. Carpet is reset one more time. He ran out of strips to complete the bedroom and the bath still has to be done - completed early Mar. Dwayne has now finished the ceiling and our TV's were mounted in Dec. Our Luxor now sports a very one-of-a-kind European look to it. We love our modern unit.

Feb 2012 Club Luncheon at Mr. Gattis

We had another great Explorer RV Club gathering. This time at Mr Gatti's Pizza Place. 100+ members and guests all seemed to have a great time. The menu as usual was tasty. Next luncheon is already 50% pre-booked for March at Denny's in Weslaco.

Feb 2012 Alamo Palms Style Show

The Annual Alamo Palms Style Show fashions presented byt Bec's Fashions in McAllen, Lionel's Western Wear from Weslaco and Well's of Weslaco in Weslaco provided clothes modelled by park residents. Meal was Creamed Chicken in Pastry w/ Blueberry Cheese Cake and all money earned goes to the Christmas for the Needy Fund Raiser. Good day

Dec 2011 - Our coach lights & Alamo Park Parade of Lights

Our Luxor won first prize at our Alamo Palms. We definitely had the most lights in the park. My prize was an Alamo Palms Chomona (sp) that I have modified to be a classy beach cover-up. Tuesday evening I joined many other park residents for a parade. Many units were decorted but only a fractions of my Pics turned out.

This Bird and Butterfly sanctuary has superior walking trails. Park also offers several tours each day but we went on our own. John now has his own camera so I am featuring Pics taken by both of us - similar shots from a different perspective. This was a B'Day gift to me.

Sep 2011 Huron Reunion K-W

John and I joined other Huron Shipmates for a Reunion in Waterloo, Ontario. 21-24 Sep 2011. Our tasty Banquet and Breakfast were catered by the Kitchener-Waterloo Navy Club. Sorry but my Pics taken during the banquet were either blurry or too dark. Instead of bringing our MH to K-W we drove in for Registration on Wed the 21st and spent Thursday and Friday at the full service Comfort Inn. John was on the committee so we wanted to be part of the action. Wise move for sure. Overall it was a super party. NOTE Ordering, bottleing and labelling wine is so much less expensive if it is done at a Wine Making shop. We went to our local Vintners Winery in Woodstock. We were flattered that members wanted the bottles as souvenirs

Sep 2011 Pittock Lake - Woodstock On

We wanted to check out the Pittock Lake Conservation Centre today. It is just down the road from our park a bit north of Woodstock and I must say it is spacious and very beautiful. These Pics express the isolation and seclusion of a peaceful waterfront location. Pittock offers an abundant of activities that take place in a superior natural environment including water sports. The only downside is day usage fees are costly - reservations and camping fees too are high. But the park looked quite full of seasona RVers so obviously a lot are very happy. Sep 2011 Warriors Day at the Western Fair

Saturday we took time out of my Diary Day Schedule to enjoy the phenomenal Warriers Day Parade at the Western Fair in London Ont. So many participants representing all branches of the service and from the USA joined together for a collossal presentation. This was the parades 60th Anniversary at the Fair. Young cadets joined aging veterans to honour Canada's Veteran's. Dignatories also did their part to add to the program. It was a moving experience to witness.

Our dog Bratt has a new buddy. Lately Braemar Valley's stray cat has been around our site big time. Bratt (who doesn't love a lot of other dogs has become super buddies. It is humourous to watch the two of them play together.

Aug 21 2011 - Family Gathering & Friends who stopped by plus Aug events - Various things

August was a quiet part of our summer but when Diary Friends Janna & Norm checked in for a weeks visit early in the month our visiting activities picked up. On the 21st Aug. niece Sandi w/Hemi; nephew Rick , Sharon & Megan and niece Jane, Pete and Kelsey gathered for a mini family BBQ gathering. We booked the Chalet during the afternoon on Sunday so we had no worry about weather. The previous Saturday there was another private party celebrating a 75th B'Day, 50th Anniversary, plus several other B'Days. Their decorations were beautiful. We ended the month with a morning at the Woodstocks Fall Fair

The Rally was a blast as was the costume ball Saturday evening. Theme was to cover early residents of the 1700-1800's. So many were in costume - some rented and some created. The final breakfast was a perfect way to say So Long till next time.

July 2011 Full Day Tour of Quebec City at Rally

This was one of the most informative tour of QC we have been on - John and I have toured this historic place numerous times. We left at 8:30 and returned home at 5:30. Lunch in the formal dining room at the Montmorency Falls Manor was second to none. John chose the fresh salmon and I enjoyed tender chicken - Dessert was equally decadent. Our guide Pierre was so knowledgable and informative that the day flew by.

May 2011 Cdn Navy Memorial Service with Farewell Bfst

Cdn Navy Association met in Kitchener - Waterloo during 4-days the last week of May... Sunday culminated with a Memorial Service at the K-W Cenetaph. The Cadet Band and Colour Party opened and closed the ceramony. The Lady's Auxillary provided a tasty Buffet Lunch before everyone departed.

Jan 2011 - Bill - Luella's new home - on-going build that began early Dec.

Bill, a retired shope teacher and wife Luella are transforming their Class C into a classy Winter Texan Home. These two are working hard but to them it is like playing. Because they live across from us we get a birds eye vista. Their new home will add a plus to Southern Comfort RV Park. This project began mid Dec and develops into a beautiful residence a bit more each day. More photos to come as progress develops.

Feb 24 Club Luncheon

Our last gathering of 2010/2011 Explorer RV Club Luncheons. This one was at the Golden Corral on Jackson Ave. It is such a fantastic eatery. We had too many to fit into the party room so 30 ate in the main restaurant and moved chairs into the room for a brief meeting. Approx 96 gathered for this event. We may be back next Jan or Feb when we return to the RGV.

Dec 2010 Xmas Highlights of park

Southern Comfort park is so well decorated I just had to take some pictures. There were 6 winners - 3 for Mobile Homes and 3 for Park Models/RVs. Winners are featured as well as others that were so beautiul. I was honoured to win first prize for Ok Models/RV's Thanks to all who voted for me. Units can not win two years in a row.

Dec & Nov 2010 Ladies Luncheon - from Southern Comfort

December 14 of us dined at Furr's decadent buffet before we shopped in the one of a kind unique stores in quaint Old McAllen. November - What a super day out. 28 ladies from Southern Comfort gathered to carpool for lunch at 'The Cottage - 601 S Texas Blvd, Weslaco, TX (956.477.4000)'. Meals were tasty and very economical. Decor throughout was classy for sure. After lunch we stopped at the 'Golden Raintree Gardens to meander its 12 acres of beautiful landscaped walking paths and gardens. This place sells tasty citrus fruit - but only from trees grown on their property. NO CHARGE to enter. The entire complex protrays Peace Personified. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Weslaco area. - 'Golden Raintree Gardens - 1303 S Texas Blvd, Weslaco, Texas (956.968.6161)'

Nov 2010: Car Fire in Wal*Mart Parking Lot

As we exited the Weslaco Texas store - 4' flames were coming out of the hood of a fairly new car. Owners were no where to be found. The fire truck arrived about 3 minutes later. He was parked behind our car so we had to wait till they got it under control with foam. It restarted for a bit when they broke the window. Within 15 minutes all source of flames was distinguished. When we finally was able to move our car everything was under control and no other vehicle was involved. Thankfully it did not explode. An exciting show for a bit - wonder what the owners thought when they were alerted.

Entertainment that evening was a Silent Auction to raise money for cancer - close to $1500 was donated. This wine tour of Prince Edward County was extensive and most informative.
