Solo dive- partly sun, 60 degrees air temp, water temp 74 degrees- dove at 1:00 pm, sun is getting very long- water was greenish. Lots of fish, the northerns were in 30 feet plus, they were swimming in the dark green and out of camera range- lots of small fish in schools and the bigger fish were swimming through them. 88 minute dive, in my dry suit. I developed a leak in my right foot, and swam most of the dive with a wet foot.

94 minute solo dive. Lots of critters- Full sun, 78 degrees- water temp 74 degrees. Used my dry suit, it's like draging an anchor around . My SAC 0.472 which is a little higher than in a wet suit which has been at 0.335. Lots of fish, and a very curious loon (he was in brown feathers) I first noticed him at 26 feet- swimming through a school (500) of small sunfish. The northerns were also in the vacinity 6-7 of them swiming through the schools- the first pictures of the largemouth bass show a huge stomach- he just needed to poop-

80 degree day- full/cloudy sky. Water temp 77 degree- dove with Steve Kohls and a photography student Derek. Critters were skidish- Last part of the dive the sun was blocked by clouds- big fish were in the 25-30 foot water- which got pretty green at depth- 87 minute dive.

2011-07-24 Guided Tour

Dove with Trevor and Tyler Barth- full sun 70 degrees air temp- 78 minute dive- they wanted a deep dive so we did a 50 foot dive to start off with- water temp in the middle 60's- then worked the grassy areas in about 23 foot. Lots of big northerns- looked for floor life on a slag deposit- found lots of cray fish and as you see in the pics we gathered lots of small mouth bass also- they scooped up some of the crayfish we found, sometimes getting a little aggresive and also got to eat some of the other finds- great dive

Three dives- first dive at 5:30 PM, second dive at 8:42 PM, and the night dive at 9:58. Sky was overcast for late day dives- water quality- tore up- Family of 4- Trevor, Tyler, Tara, and mom and dad, Brad and Diane Barth. Lots of critters- but better yet a great family.

Five students Kinberly Juracek, Anthony Rice, Alexander Rice, Haley Fogle, Brenyn Whitney- Open Water dive 3 and 4. All completed the tasks and we did a 45 minute dive- all good students. Air temp 75, water temp in the high 60's- vis at 25 feet- water is a little green.

Dove with Steve Kohls- Air temp 75, min water temp 58, 60 minute dive- partly cloudy at the start of the dive, and turned to full sun at the finish of the dive. Vis was no more than 20 feet. Fish were active but elusive- 1 huge northern at the grassy flats-

2011-06-24 Photography dive

Full sun- 75 degree air temp, minimum water temp 67, 68 minute dive- Dove with Adam and Mandy Carstensen, who were gearing up for a dive when I arrived. This was their first dive in the Crosby pit lakes. Vis was 20-25 feet, lots of floaters. Didn't take many pictures, sunfish are building nests, bass are guarding the fry- couple of big northerns but just swimming in the dark water- the couple did a nice job of diving and great dive buddies.

Probably over an inch of rain yesterday. 38 minute dive with student Bonnie Shields- Big bull sunfish gaurding nests on the right side of swim beach- a few rock bass at the building ruin. Rained all day Wednesday-water very green and vis at 20 feet. Partly cloudy to overcast sky today and the sun never broke. Very dark with long shadows. Air temp 70, minimum water temp 65- dove 95 minutes- used flash througout the whole dive- dove with Steve Kohls. Bass have fry- sunfish not setting on nests- but are gathering to make the nests. Ran into a snapping turtle at the entry point.

Air temp 67, water temp 65, Dove 93 minutes- Sun light in west sky- long shadows- adjusted ISO from 100 to 200 without a problem- bumped the asa setting by mistake- went to 400 and the setting will not work-even tried the flash- but it lit the critters up. Late afternoon shoot is difficult. Great dive- even ran into a fisherman from shore- followed his lure up to the bank- he wasfishing for Trout- I didn't see any during the dive

full sun 65 degrees- water temp in the lower 60's- dove with Cliff Turner. At the entry point we swam to the left- following a ridge that took us out to the center of the pit- depth of ridge 5-6 foot under water to about 18-20 foot- water clearity was a little milky- but found some clear spots, there were lots of fish. The bass were very protective of the fry- 10 divers participated

Entered the water at 11:12- did a 66 minute dive- minimum temp recorded 62 degrees. Encountered some boat traffic at the entry point. Had full sun at entry- it then clouded over quickly- got very dark- got the equipment off and we had a down pour. Great dive and some fish action.

Air temp 68, water temp 54, seems like a thermocline starting around 16-18 feet. Full sun, clear water but a titch of green at 15-20 feet. No fish but this Loon was sure interested in me! I thought I had a full charge battery- but camera stopped working just as the Loon got up close and personal- great dive, 1 hour 10 minutes all by myself- Loon was my dive buddy today- stayed with me for 15 minutes- again an unforgetable moment.

Dove Hopkins with 8 divers- air temp 55, full sun, water temp 46 degrees- followed the road base out to a depth of 55 feet- at depth very cloudy and poor visability dug out my flashlight- which hardly lite the bottom- my dive partner was diving wet and got cold- reversed direction to find the exit. Had to off gas for 2:52 at 23 feet. Returned to entry point- 35 minute dive.

Mark Cross as instructor- 5 students- final dive for students- Tim Gaak as divemaster- air temp around 40 plus- water temp 37- very foggy- light mist in the morning but turned to a sleet/rain by afternoon. Ice is very pourous and degrading rapidly- Students are Chayse Watson, Justin Forrest, Troy Booth, Emily Saint Onge, and Nicholas Pavlic. Tom Allinder as assistant instructor.
