Recycle Mania - Students after a "dorm storm" where they basically go trick-or-treating for recyclables. Event brings awareness to international recycling/waste minimization 10-week competition.

Students from the GREEN Club put signs near residence halls to collect e-waste and carpeting during move-out. The e-waste is recycled by Facilities, and the GREEN Club cleans, stores, and re-sells the carpeting in the fall to incoming students.

Bon Appetit switched to compostable serve ware on April 22, 2008. The University is currently piloting a composting program and plans to compost our food waste by Fall 2009.

SCU students mentor local high school teams in the Sustainability Decathlon, a competition for high schools to integrate sustainability into their schools. St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco is one of seven schools participating in the 2009 Sustainability Decathlon (http://www.scu.edu/sustainability/service/decathlon2009.cfm).
