Poland Silesia 2007
A bunch of Texans, descendants of 1850s Silesian immigrants, made an amazing trip to Silesia, Poland. June 18 - July 2, 2007. Led by Father Frank Kurzaj, a native of Silesia, now a priest in San Antonio, Texas, we visited Silesia, Poland; Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria, including Krakow, Wawel Castle, Old Market Square, St. Mary's Church, Basilica of the Divine Mercy, Wieliczka Salt Mines, Auschwitz, Wadowice (birthplace of John Paul II), Gliwice, Opole, Silesia, Shrine of St. Ann, Kamien Sl. (birthplace of St. Jacinto), Pluznica (birthplace of Father Leopold Moczygemba), Wielowies, the Shrine of the Black Madonna at Czestochowa, Wroclaw, St. Hedwig's grave in Trzebnica, Bratislava (the capital of Slovakia), Czech Republic, Olomouc (on the Moravia River), Vienna (the "city of waltz"), Hofburg castle, Schonbrunn Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Brno (in the Czech Republic), Kamien Slaski (a village in Silesia), Studzionka, Slawiecice, Strzelce Opolskie, and many villages.
