Backpack Retreat

Two Dogs, a dry stream, Jet Boiling, Tang, Aspen, Personal Torture Devices, Grandmas, Space Food, Hammocks, and more! This backpack retreat, which was planned by Grant, Gerry, and Chris, was a great chance to challenge ourselves ( with a 10 mile hike in one day with full packs ) to learn more about each other ( and each others smells, noises, and humor ) and to learn about how to connect and remain connected to God even amidst the busyness of our lives. Great Weekend! Great hikes! Great friends! Great GOD! We hiked the Superior hiking Trail from Wolf Rock, North of Castle Danger ( yep, its really named that ) to the Split Rock River. Around a 15 mile hike with packs.

7th Grade Team Building Retreat 2010

These photos are from our Camp Emmaus Low and High Ropes Retreat we do each year with incoming 7th graders to our confirmation program! Kyle, Megan, Jordyn, Bobbi, Kia, Walker, Mitch, Zach, Cole, Taylor, Pr. Beth, and I ( Chris Richards ) Had a blast learning to trust one another!

Jr. High Amnicon 2010 - Flambeau River!

August 8-13th 2010, 8 intrepid adventurers, Morgan, Nate, Chris, Kyle, Josh, Aiesha, Melissa, and Lexi, hit the Flambeau River. With Rapids off the charts, the river was almost a foot higher than usual! Big rains each night kept the river rising, and we had a week of first class adventure on the trail.

In June of 2010 - 9 awesome guys, one tough chica, and two amazing guides set off on an adventure of epic proportions. Here you will find their photo-journal. Enjoy the pics. Thanks to the guys for making this trip amazing, faith inspiring, deep, funny, epic, ninja, and creepy in a good way. WhiteFYSH Ski and Scripture 2010

We had an excellent two days of snow time and two days of train time on this four-five day trip at the end of February 2010. 17 youth and 6 adults travelled 1200 miles to learn about the transfiguration, each other, and how to shred the groomers! ( and the glades, bowls, basins, and wherver else they could get to!) More pictures to come as whiteFYSHers get there pics in to me!

Christmas Soup Kitchen Wrapping 2009

Each year we help the Bemidji Soup Kitchen by wrapping donated items from local vendors as gifts for those who use the soup kitchen each year. This year we wrapped a few hundred! FLYP and FYSH helped along with many congregation members during dinner on December the 2nd.

Urban immersion 2009

This is from our Urban Immersion Retreat with the Great Metropolitan Council of Churches in Minneapolis. The Urban Immersion staff trained us on issues of poverty. Then we went out and helped a few different local organizations. We must have rakeds well over a hundred bags of leaves. We prayed with those we helped, came back to the center, learned more about poverty in MN, and then worshiped the next day at the Spirit Garage. It was an eye opener for everyone!

Jr. High Amnicon - Sylvania Wilderness 2009

7-9th Graders took an amazing adventure with Camp Amnicon to the pristine forest and waters of the Sylvania Wilderness in Michigan. We spent the week learning about faith, camping, worhsiping God and growing in friendship!

This awesome adventure was a small crew, but was big on faith growth, great laughs, and high adventure. We conquered the Bois Brule River in Wisconsin, nailing whitewater rapids in our canoes and living to tell the tale.

This group of young men challenged the Flambeau River in Wisconsin, and heroically conquered all! What a great week we had with Brad and Jay our counselors. Everyone became a pro-canoeist and everyone grew in faith and friendship. God is GOOD@

2008 Bridger Bowl FYSH winter Retreat

These are pictures from the 2008 FYSH Winter Retreat to Bridger Bowl with Pathways Bible Camp. We spent the weekend bussing, skiing, praying, worshipping, studying, skiing some more, and then sleeping on the bus ride back. Awesome fellowship, awesome retreat. Here some of the designs youth voted on for the Youth Room in early 2008. Painting was completed in Late March of 2008, completing a renovation of the Youth Room which includes new audiovisual equipment, furniture, and paint. The design chosen is the first pic in the album and includes the First Lutheran Youth text on the walls

Youth Christmas Program

These are from the Youth Christmas Program 2007, Youth including Sunday Schoolers, Wednesday night Schoolers, and some high school and middle school youth, all came together to perform for parents and families! Sarah Carlson lead the music ( FLC Director of Music Ministries ) and Chris Richards ( Director of Youth and Family Ministries ) wrote a script for a short play that ran in tandem with the performance.
