The seven Hills of Velliangiri

Velliangiri part of the Niligiri's Biosphere is around 40kms away from Coimbatore and the backdrop of the Isha Yoga Centre.The 7 hills here are considered sacred and are visited by many people(to pollute the pristine in the name of Bakthi). One will get spectacular views and sunrise from the peak.We camped on the 6th hill as we lost visibility to reach the 7th hill due to clouds.Night there is chilling cold and windy.There is lot of chances to spot wildlife. I spotted Malbar Gaint Squirrel, Indian Gaur's , Sand Boa (snake) , few Leeches. Distance : 12-15 Kms Level : Moderate ( Very Steep Climb) No of Trekkers : 4 Dates : 23,24 Oct ,2010

Tiruvannamalai-Lord Siva Himself

Tiruvannamalai also called as Arunachalam is one of the Panchabootha Sthalas where lord Siva resides as one of the elements of Nature 'FIRE'. Every Pournami (full moon) day thousands of devotees walk around the Arunachala hill adjacent to the temple.Deepam is the gand festival that attracts lakhs of tourists every year. This centuries old temple like many temple in Tamil Nadu is built and renovated by Pallava, Cholas and Vijayanagara kings. You can also find Hoyasala arcitectural style in the inner most Sanctum. Most of the temple is restricted for Photography.Many pics are the Views of the grand temple for the hill top view from Arunachala. Tiruvannamalai is also famous for Ramana Ashram.
