2011-04-27, Scuba diving with Bahama Divers
Leah and I went scuba diving with Bahama Divers (a dive shop at Nassau) on our 3rd day in The Bahamas. Small diving crew and crowd, very enjoyable. It was also my first open water dive since my Scuba certification. First dive was at "The Lost Blue Hole". Visibility wasn't that great and the depth was quite challenging for me (80 to 100 ft). Second dive was a shallow reef dive at the beautiful "Barracuda Reef". Lots of fish, schools of fish.
Mysterious blue hole
Bahama Divers co-owner Leroy Lowe's favourite dive site is not for beginners. After spending more than 30 years diving the most spectacular sites The Bahamas has to offer, Lowe rates a mysterious blue hole, just 11 miles off the eastern end of New Providence, as his favourite.
"The first time you go into a blue hole, it's a little weird, but when you get down there and look up and see the sunlight streaming down through this perfect circle, you realize why it's so special," he says.
