Our remote campsite on Unbagog.
And since we hired the boat to bring over our stuff, we have a few, ahem, extras.
View from our site.
This is "The Point". A small rock outcropping right next to our site.
Looking along the shore. You can see a blue tarp about a quarter mile away. At the next site.
Carmel is happy to be here.
Carmel flexing her muscles on an evening paddle.
Me in my little boat.
I look like a pro.
Sunset from The Point.
I call this "Mike's Head with Low Sun"
Going....
Darren working hard to catch the moment.
Swamp doing some fishing on The Point.
... gone.
Sunday morning - heading out for a paddle on choppy waters.
Beautiful day.
Carmel's kayak on an island where we had first lunch. I also needed to empty the water out of my tiny yak.
View from Lunch Island.
Blue Heron in flight over the Androscoggon River.
Bald eagle. This tree was swaying in the wind and he stayed perfectly perched the whole time.
Until he went fishing.
Eagle in flight.
and again...
In flight right over the water.
Perched in another tree.
Then he found lunch.
It was amazing to watch him rip a fish apart in a matter of seconds.
Look at the size of this tree and then look at the size of his talons. When he grabbed the fish, it disappeared in his claws.
Carmel and a very cool sky.
Back at the campsite getting ready for another sunset.
Swamp taking his boat out for a sunset cruse.
There goes Swamp.
Carmel, Mike, Darren and Swamp hanging on The Point just after sunset.
"Is very nice! Great success!"
Heading back to the car. Carmel doesn't want to go.
I found a tiny island.
And I claimed it. Chomp Island.
It was a great weekend with great friends and by far the most kayaking that I've ever done. Unbagog is an amazing place and I'll be back next year for sure.
