Monsoon Manaslu & Tsum 2012

Not allowed into Tibet, we opted to visit Manaslu & Tsum for yertsa gunbu season in June. Despite being monsoon-time, the weather was spectacular if a bit hot in the lower reaches. Note the Larkye La (pass) without snow!

Wild Ladakh & Rupshu 2011

One of our most challening west-east Ladakh & Zanskar traverses, this year made even more exciting with BIG river crossings and 12 passes (most 5000+ meters). Visiting the remote villages of Kanji, Dibling & Shade and trekking through some of Ladakh & Zanskar's most remote terrain, we finish in the nomadic region of Rupshu.

Tibet & Kailash Saga Dawa 2011

The start of our fantastic journey from Kathmandu to Lhasa, on to Guge Kingdom and then to Mount Kailash for the kora followed by Saga Dawa. We left via Purang and headed through the Limi Valley & Humla for 10 (+) days, finally getting a helicopter out of Simikot because of monsoon rains. An epic journey!

The Great Bhutan Bike Journey 2011

John Witcombe & I completed a 16-day bike trip from the west of Bhutan (Paro/Haa) to the east (Trashigang), exiting via an exciting road down to Assam. From there we flew to Calcutta and then the next day to Kathmandu. A 'must do' on any biker's list of travels, and a truly amazing, breathtaking and interesting journey through Bhutan ...

This was one of the best exploratory treks we've done, with one of the best groups I've ever trekked with ... We were trekking during the big mud slides in Leh (and in Pakistan) and had some exciting river crossings and weather. A fantastic trek!

High Manaslu 2010

A great trek in the Manaslu region, starting in Gorkha and heading high through the sprawling Gurung villages before reaching the purely Tibetan villages and crossing the Larkya La pass to the Annapurna region. Arun Valley: Eastern Gateway to Everest

This is a fantastic, diverse and incredibly scenic approach to the Everest region starting from rustic Tumlingtar in eastern Nepal, and connecting with the Jiri-Lukla trail just below Lukla. When we did this trek last Dec, we only saw 3 independent trekkers the entire time. It's a great look at the middle hills Rai & Sherpa villages of Eastern Nepal, with lots of BIG hills. A classic trek on its own!
