Just Married!! Waiting for our domestic flight to Samui at Phuket airport.
It's very easy keeping my new wife happy.
First night at Samui, out on the sauce somewhere...
This was our room on Samui where we stayed for 2 nights.
Our little balcony sits directly on the Hat Lamai beach.
Melissa poses while people comb the beach in the background.
The resort viewed from the beach.
That's the pool right in front of me reflecting the sky. I like this pic.
Umm.... feet!
I brought 3 Halo books with me to read. This is the first one, it's a prequel to the first Halo game.
Who us, out on the beers?
Hell yes.
Our last morning, we spent 2 nights on Koh Samui. From here we head to Ko Phangan.
Strange mobile ATM / currency exchange van.
The ferry arrives.
This welcomed us to our Bungalow on Koh Phangan.
Awww. :)
Frangipanni's grow all over the place. They make use of the flowers.
This is what you see sitting on our bed.
We have a little table and chair for playing cards, and a hammock too.
Our bungalow. We liked it so much here we stayed for 8 days.
Panorama of Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach where we were staying.
When we aren't too pissed to spell we play Quiddler (it's kinda like Scrabble, but with cards).
The bungalow next door. They grow these plants up over the balconies to make shade. It works well.
Hanging out.
I must admit I love a good hammock.
Drinking and playing cards occupies most of our time.
Damn, pick up 2.
Relaxing.
Cocktails!! I think mine was a Zombie, Melissa's was a Stawberry Margarita.
Melissa loves Tequila.
Mine was quite strong.
There was a pub/restaurant built up on the rocks on one side of the bay, it had a great view.
Nice view of Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach.
On the way down again we found some puppies!!
They were very cute. :)
Quick pit stop for a tinnie.
These guys turn up every day with their 3 jetskis and hired them out.
Chillin' in the shade. Those are our bungalows in the background.
More beer and cards on the beach.
Mmm.... Singa.
I can see you.
The next day, back at the same bar I think.
Apart from when our plane landed in Phuket, it never rained once on our holiday.
Mmmm... green curry.
Panang curry.
You can see Melissa trying to see if the man who brings the beers is close by.
I can't lose with this hand.
Massaman Curry. It has peanuts and potatoes in it, very yummy.
This was called "Fried Rice Thai Style". I ordered it just to see what it was, the rice is fried in shrimp paste. It was delicious.
These bungalows looked cool, they were built into the rocks.
We got back to Samui on Thai New Years Eve.
We're having some lunch at a restaurant, but as you can see I'm quite wet!
During New Years ("Songkran"), the Thai people head out to the streets and drench each other with water. The tourists get into it too.
It was fun watching this crowd drench each other and anybody who went past.
They also wipe talc/baby powder on your face as a blessing.
These kids (some Thai, and some where French tourists) were having heaps of fun.
This was how we looked when we got back to our hotel.
Absolutely drenched from head to toe and covered in baby powder. It was good fun tho. :)
I spotted a Melissa in the pool.
For our last 5 days on Samui we stayed at a very nice resort.
These are the internal gardens.
The aircon didn't work properly in the room we booked, so they moved us into a (much bigger) room.
Check out the size of the balcony!
Drinking and playing Quiddler just outside our bedroom.
Ugg. This was the morning after New Years, we got on the Thai Whiskey the day before and were feeling extremely sick. The rest of this bottle went down the sink!
Very hungover, trying not to show it.
That's our balcony to the left of the picture (not the top one, but one below it).
This was late in the afternoon, feeling a bit better now. Only one thing to do... more booze!
This was a Pina Colada in an interesting shaped glass.
These guys were setting up their seafood stall for the restaurant, they had fresh fish on display.
The "Swing Bar". Friday night is beach party night.
Shopping Paradise!!
Lots of these little hut bars around. I played Connect 4 (and drank) with the locals here while Melissa did some shopping.
The hut bars at night.
Our last breakfast.
These little things you see everywhere, they are for spicing up your Pad Thai. Clockwise from the top it contanis sugar, chilli flakes, VERY HOT chillies in fish sauce, not very hot chillies in vinegar.
I've seen that tattoo before....
Ready to head home.
