Team Building Workshop

Flow Circus conducted a Team Building workshop for 85 library staff at Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library. In addition to creating balloon dog assembly lines, teams had to illustrate book covers of a variety of Dr. Seuss and Dr. Seuss early reader books. Select titles included: "The Cat in the Hat," "My Many Colored Days," and "A Great Day for Up." See how many book covers you can identify.

Pennsylvania Library Association Conference

Flow Circus held a session at the PALA Conference last week to introduce librarians to "Fundama: A DIY Skill Toy." You can see from the pictures that the hour and 15 minute session required a little focus, creativity, & a lot of playfulness!

Summer Reading Program 2011 - August Tour

During the first half of August, Flow Circus visited 20 libraries in 4 states in the Northeast! We performed and conducted Skill Toy workshops as part of the One World, Many Stories Summer Reading Program. We hope that we inspired families to visit their library throughout the year!

Cary Academy Summer Quest - Week of June 20th

Flow Circus conducted a new specialty camp at Cary Academy Summer Quest this year. Juggling and skill toys introduced the campers to a variety of juggling props and other skill toys that enhance hand eye coordination, develop self-esteem, and keep kids active. As you can see from the photos, we also had lots of fun!

Summer Library Workshops: Balloon Twisting & Skill Toys

Flow Circus offered several tween & teen workshops during its recent tour of Connecticut & Pennsylvania libraries. "Twisted Fun" taught basic balloon animals & hats so that participants could "Express Yourself @ Your Library." You can see some of the creative outcomes in these pictures! The "Skill Toys from Around the World" introduced teens to several different toys that allows them to develop skills and express their creativity.

Skill Toys at the Newcomer Center

Flow Circus had the privilege of working with middle and high school students at the Chapel Hill Newcomer Center. We would like to thank Ms. Collins and Ms. Mellow for having us visit with the class over 6 sessions to introduce them to 8 different skill toys. You can see many of them in use in these photos. Twist & Earn - Tween & Teen Library Workshop

Flow Circus visited Fair Haven branch library in New Haven, CT to teach the tweens & teens there to twist balloons. After basic balloon twisting skills and a team building exercise, the kids got to "Express Yourself @ the Library" making balloon hats. Some were big, some small, but all very colorful!

Flow Circus presented FIZZ: Safely Broadcasting Performance Learning Outcomes with Dr. Lodge McCammon and Andrea Gambino at the 2009 State of the Arts Conference at Meredith College in Raleigh on Friday, March 6th. In our session, we provided several models for incoporating web 2.0 technologies in classrooms and afterschool programs to develop 21st century learning skills.

The Wake Forest Historic Preservation Committee hosted its Christmas Historic Home Tour this weekend. Our neighbors, Michael & Parker Schlink, own a 1890s home and had their home on the tour. They were trying to come up with something playful to put in their first floor bathroom that has a skirted tub and enlisted the help of Flow Circus.

Juggling Magic & Balloon Camp - Avery County, NC

Flow Circus returned to Avery County 4H Summer Camp for the third year in a row to teach a Juggling, Magic, & Ballloon Twisting Camp. Skill Toy Program at Boys and Girls Club

Flow Circus ran a Skill Toy Program at the Wake Forest Boys & Girls Club from February - May 2008. Students learned 8 different skill toys from juggling to Japanese Kendama to diabolos. We were amazed by the skills they developed in such a short period of time. Special thanks to the Koinonia Foundation, Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment, and Wal-Mart for their support of this program.
